Seems to me you could not send anything but stereo (i.e make them stereo pairs on a temp basis), then pan them accordingly in Soundtrack as a work around…

I’d be running to a decent character generator and doing this tape to tape probably… It’s the highlighting part that’s the rub here. Boris’ Title Crawl would work well for the crawl, but there’s not a way I know of other than keyframing a ton of Glowing effects on a word by word basis to do this in FCP. Never heard of a plugin for this either… might contact BorisFX.com about whether or not Graffitti might work for this (Calligraphy is a light version of it).

Good suggestion indeed. Also might post what codec you are using… This is a betacam SX machine?

I miss that too from my old avid days… but alas, FCP 5 is the same as 4.5 in this regard, and there is no way I know of to do this but you can undo then redo if that helps.

don’t rejustify the text at all.. just click several times on the tab marker, it determines justification. An L shapped tab marker would be flush right, a backwards L would be left and an upside down T would be centered… as you click on these tab markers they change.. it’s tricky sort of but you’ll get it… To remove one, just drag it down.

You can format many different fonts, sizes, and even create columns in Boris’ title Crawl… should be located in the generator button’s list inside the Boris submenu in FCP 5 or at the bottom of the list in earlier versions. Turn on wrapping in the text entry box, click on the white area at the top to create tabs that are flush left, right or center. Continually clicking on these tabs changes their flush settings.

There are several columns in the Browser you can add log notes to, and when you log with the log and capture window, there’s several fields for this information.
