I’ve never used merged clips as sources for a multi clip, and suspect there’s a bug in there… I’d suggest you NOT use merged clips, but use the audio track you’re merging with as one of the source clips, or export one of the clips as a self contained movie with the audio you’re wanting to use. Then when you bring that export back in, sync it to the two other cameras, and only switch video, using the exported clip’s audio as the audio track. But it should work fine just using the master audio as a source clip for the mulitclip, and not switching the audio.. just the video.

Well, since the project file you send from the “A” station to the “B” station is connected to .mov files, you need to import all of the footage on the B station to match that of the A station… i.e, batch import it all on the B station just as you did on the A station. So the files on each really do match each other exactly.
Then it should be just a matter of reconnecting one you pass project files back and forth. If you name the drive that holds the footage after import the same as the drive on station A, and have the same path names on folders etc which contain these files, you won’t even have to reconnect, because FCP on B will find the files in the same file name path that A uses and automatically connect to them.
Such as: Drive name/Scratch Disk/project file name/media file name…

Can you see this if you view the footage externally? If not, it’s likely not really in the file, but a playback weirdness. If that’s the case, try reseating your graphics card. I’ve never seen this behavior so not sure what’s causing it. But have seen a graphics card reseating work to fix weird artifact.

I should think that this is a setting you need to make in the export from power point… can’t change the format of a media file once made elsewhere just by some sort of setting in an import routine.

The animation codec is a one way to preserve alpha and quality, but it’s pretty inefficient, and will take long to render in FCP. You could also export it using the same settings as your sequence in FCP. In the end it has to become that anyway. The other codec that preserves quality and alpha channels, is ProRes 4444. Better efficiency for sure.

You can deinterlace the footage during compression, try that. I’d probably use h.264 at a high bit rate, don’t change the frame rate, nor change the size.

If you move the project file with the media on an external drive, and have the same versions of FCP on both stations, you’re good to go… I’ve about 60 students right now doing just that.

I’m unclear on what the ramifications are of just changing a sequence’s audio rate that much… try creating a new empty one, and place a clip in there to see what ensues… I have a feeling that just changing settings isn’t all you need to do.
What format is the audio? air? wav’s or?

Which flavor of 1080 HD? HDV? DVCPROHD or AVCHD (which ends up being ProRes). I’d look at the fastest two drive array you can afford at least (you could make it mirror if you want, cuts capacity in half of course). CalDigit.com sells dandy setups, as do other folks out there. They’ll be fast enough if the media is compressed enough. ProRes 4:2:2 is what you want to be able to play at least I’d think.
