The only codecs that work with express are DV, HDV, and the AIC codec… choose one of those. AIC should be there… Got Compressor? That would have the codecs.

Seems to me that nesting should work OK. Should be as simple as selecting the clips you want to nest together, and nesting them. How are you trying this?

Your drivce speed is low if the drives are stripped in an array… they should be clocking a LOT faster than that. Are the drives in the enclosure just separate drives? or does it appear in the finder as a single drive?
Sounds like they aren’t in an array… just a bunch of individual drives.

Sure sounds like a hardware problem to me. It’s likely that the drives aren’t keeping up, the RAM is filling up, or the graphics card isn’t up to the job.
Start by testing how fast the drives are performing. AJA and Blackmagic Design both have free drive speed or system speed utilities. You can download them free from their sites. AJA’s is called System test I think.. downloads with their drivers which have an uninstaller. They need to exceed the data rate of all 6 cameras combined.

What video format is the source footage? FWIW, you really can’t accurately judge picture without sending the signal out to a video monitor…

Choose the one that comes out 16:9. On a 4:3 set, it will letterbox, and on a 16:9 set, it can fill the frame.

In the bottom of the view menu set the video and audio playback to “digital cinema desktop -main monitor, then in that same menu, set the video playback to “all frames”. Then type on the escape key to go back to smaller size…

Yes AJA’s capture cards or others will do a better job of the conversion. Best would be a teranex box. https://www.teranex.com
