That would likely work OK, but if you’re going to go thru reconnection, it makes better sense to me to use the Media Manager to make the copies, a new version of the project file, and voila! you’re all connected to copies that have had a sum check done with them during the copy. Not only that, if the names of the media files don’t match the clip names, it won’t matter…

Last time I saw something like this, I reseated my graphics card, reset the display prefs to refresh them, and it went bye bye. Not sure if this is the problem, but it’s sure worth a try.

You’re in “switch mode”.
Make sure your settings are “open” , mulitclip editing is turned on in the RT menu in the timeline window, and if you want to use a keyboard, select that option from the keyboard layouts in the Tools menu.

More RAM will likely help. If you have Motion open, and you’ve performed a RAM preview, you might have taken up all RAM and disk caching starts… ugly. Get another 6 gigs of RAM and what your experiencing will likely go away.
Adding a beefier video card is going to make Motion run better for sure. Might check out the reviews of the upgrades available for your Mac at https://www.barefeats.com

There’s a widescreen filter in FCP where you can dial in the 2.35:1 letterbox. It’s in the “matte” folder in the video filters folder in the effects tab.

You need a beefier machine to not drop frames with that many cameras. You could just turn off the warning though…

Mercury Playback allows for multiple source formats to play in real time during the edit in the same sequence. It needs a cuda supported graphics card/chipset to work.
