Multiclip workflow (XDCam EX vs. ProRes)
hey everyone-
i’m working on a project that has 8 cameras in a multiclip. We ingested the footage as XDCam EX 30p, but are unable to play them back on a Powerbook with 2 x 2.66 processors and 16GB memory. we thought that maybe the problem was the codec, so tried recompressing the footage as ProRes and as ProRes Proxy (1920×1080 30p), but we’re still getting dropped frames, etc.
is it simply unreasonable to expect the computer to handle this amount of footage at the same time, regardless of the codec? have tried turning on Safe RT, lowering the video processing quality, etc. and am still having the same issue. have even tried running off of a RAID0 drive, but to no avail.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a beefier machine to not drop frames with that many cameras. You could just turn off the warning though…
