Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy 2.35:1 in FCP

    Hi.

I’m shooting on a new Sony F3. I’ll be editing in Pro Res.

I’d like the final image to use the 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

How would I go about this in FCP?

My thought was, I’d edit in a native 1920×1080 pro res window and then somehow crop the image or add a mask of black bars to the video which will be played on DVD and/or a hard drive in the cinema.
The hard drive version will be in HD.

I couldn’t find any reference to this in my searches so any help is appreciated.

    Cheers,
    ADC

There’s a widescreen filter in FCP where you can dial in the 2.35:1 letterbox. It’s in the “matte” folder in the video filters folder in the effects tab.
