HD to SD down converting using Compressor – Best Results
I’m using The Final Cut Pro Compressor to down convert HD to SD for a 30min segment to put on a DVD to give to a local TV station to broadcast. The results have been disappointing. I have been using the trial and error method with no success.
*I go into Compressor and maximize the Mbps settings (under the quality tab) to “Average – 7.6 Mbps” and “Maximum – 8.9 Mbps” (allowing 68 min of footage to be put on one DVD) and I use “two-pass VBS Best”.
*I uncheck the box that says “Allow Job Segmenting”, because I don’t want it.
*(in Frames) Resize Filter is set to “Best”.
*Deinterlace is set to “Best”.
*Rate Conversion is set to “Best”.*Does “Output Fields” need to be “Same As Source” or “Progressive” or “Bottom First” or “Top First”?
*Should the “Adaptive Details” box be checked?***What other settings should I place on here so it looks ok? I am still getting some motion blur and its driving me mad.
What else do I need to do to make this look fine? Can anyone help me?
I read this thread: “https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1032896” – it’s about down converting, it wasn’t much help.
I don’t care if my video has to render for 8-24 hrs, time isn’t a factor in getting a good quality product here. Should I fully render my video in final cut before I export it to compressor? Or does that not matter at all. I just don’t know what else I need to do and I have been spending weeks trying to fix this motion blur issue. Any help would is welcomed, thank you.
