Have you tested each stick of ram seperately? If you have access to a totally stick of ram from a friend or another machine – try that. Personally, I DON’t believe in mixing different sizes or makes of ram – too often in the past years I have burnt my fingers with this approach.
This also very similar to a problem I had a while back. First thing you should do is check the drive for any errors –
Open My Computer, and then select the local disk you want to check. On the File menu, click Properties.
On the Tools tab, under Error-checking, click Check Now.
Under Check disk options, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box.The next important thing to do is to defragment the drive. This will not only possibly resolve issues, but also speed up any rendering. The ideal scenario is to work on one hard drive and then render to another physical drive. This DOES improve rendering speeds.
How full is the drive you are busy working on – anywhere near 90% full before rendering is going to be dicey.
Have you over-clocked any part of your system – if so, this can and does have an impact especially if ram timings were played with.
In short, you need to eliminate each possible component one by one. Does the render work on any other project on a different drive?

Gary is msot probably 100% correct here.
Rules of ram:
1. Never mix ram from diff manufacturers
2. you should never have unmatched pairs (eg. 128 + 512)
3. when upgrading, always buy the size you require NEW and sell your old. This way you can be sure your ram is always the same manufacturer and hopefully same batch as well.cheers

We need to get some more info!
What happens when the computer freezes? Are all your devices (keyboard, mouse etc) locked up? If so, this sounds like a hardware IO problem to me – more than likely disc related. Are you using IDE or SATA drives?

You will not have a problem with HDV or 16:9 with Vegas which hadles both excellently. All my projects are delivered in 16:9 and you have a number of options for both HDV and 16:9.
By shooting 16:9, you have a multitude of options ooen to you as whether to deliver in SD/HD/4:3/16:9 and Dolby Surround to boot.

Select the event from which you want to copy attributes. From the Edit menu, choose Copy. Select the event where you want to apply the copied attributes. From the Edit menu, choose Paste Event Attributes.
Use this procedure to select multiple events that are located next to each other:
Hold the Shift key and click the first and last event on the track that you want to select to paste to. The events, including those between the selected events, are highlighted.Select all events
From the Edit menu, choose Select, and then choose Select All from the submenu (or press Ctrl+A) to select all tracks and events in your project. This should be used when you only have one track on the timeline.Select all events to the end of a track
Right-click an event on the applicable track and choose Select Events to End from the shortcut menu. The event and all subsequent events are selected.Cheers

The quickest way to change the properties of multiple clips would be to select the clip which contains the properties you want to copy and right-click and then select copy. Then select the start clip you want to change, move to the end of the range of the clips and press “shift” and then select the last of the clips you want to modify – right click and select “Paste event attributes”. This will copy the original clips properties and paste them to those you have selected.
Another way of selecting all the clips would be first copying the fist clip – then click the start clip of the series to change and then right-click and choose “Select Events to End” which will select all the remaining clips on that track – same thing – right-click and slect “Paste event attributes”.
A further option would be to simply render the project to 16:9 by selecting the aspect ratio in the custom settings/video for “Render As”

First we need to ascertain whether you are working in a stereo or surround project? – this will have a bearing.
Is your audio on both channels in your project or just on one channel?
As far as I know, Playstation will combine the channels for audio output and hence the sound there and not on a normal dvd.

The VX2100 does support passthrough. The fact that it is a PAL cam should have no bearing. Your setup sounds fine to me – one thing you should check is what setting your Ilink is set to as far as IO is concerned – somehow I think this is where your problem lies.
Check these settings and let us know what you find.

There are different settings. Look at the “render as” function. All are listed as pssible output formats with the exception of Real Player – must be honest and say I haven’t worked with that one yet. Each of the output formats are customizable by clicking on the “Custom” button and then “video”. You can then select the bitrates you want to render at
