    Hello all,

AS you all know I have had some audio trouble with DVD’s, in my system it only plays from the rear channels unless i put my receiver in 2 ch stereo.

I sent clients a set of DVD’s – dvd played fine but no audio (too faint to hear). this was through a normal (no hi end) dvd player connected to a tv via A/V cables

The other client (her daughter) had the exzct same problem – until they played it in the playstation and now they can hear everything.

So there is definately something going on with encoding audio…

exactally what do i do to the audio settings –

Also, i have AC3 files and sometimes DVDA tells me it has to re-render them (any clus as to why if they are already AC3 files???

I am obviously screwing something up on the vegas side of all of this but I am clueless.

    Thanks (again)

First we need to ascertain whether you are working in a stereo or surround project? – this will have a bearing.

Is your audio on both channels in your project or just on one channel?

As far as I know, Playstation will combine the channels for audio output and hence the sound there and not on a normal dvd.

My Projects are for stereo DVD – or what would default to any dvd player and tv or home thtr system.

This is event work and the final mix is always 2 ch stereo. – no surround sound mixes (that I know of) which is what i want to avoid so the dvd will play in anything with a default stereo output.

my vegas projects are originally edited on media 100’s (because i am like that work platform and then mastered to DVCAM with stereo out (ch 1& 2)

then i bring the project into vegas via 1394 from my feeder source to create my mpg and AC3 files (and to archive the project for a while on hard drives)

I can assume that even if I add some audio trackes in vegas, it will combine all of the audio tracks (lets say I add 2 audio tracks to the original 2 tracks (now 4 total L & R) more to clean something up or add a piece in vegas) i am assuming the when i tell vegas to render ac3 audio it takes those 2 or 4 tracks and makes a stereo out put file – at least thats what I want, with no surround sound.

    Dazed and Confused!!!!

    Thanks
    Wayne

Funny, I’ve been experiencing the same problem since I’ve upgraded to version 6.0c. I have burned several DVDs and experienced the same problem. NO audio in the DVD player, but no problem when played through a Playstation console.

I attributed it to my cheezy 40.00 DVD player that I use to double check my DVD’s. Now I have to look deeper into this problem to see if it’s Vegas that is doing something odd.
