You will probably need a D8 camcorder for the capture process and the capture process works on the same principle as normal DV (provided the D8 camera has a firewire port).
Your quality will obviously be much less than minidv but forwhat you require, this should be sufficient for what you require.

Finding tutorials can be bothersome.
You would be best suited to purchase a good set of training dvd’s which would answer many more questions than what individual tutorials can. These tutorials normally only deal with a specific aspect rather than the package as a whole. As always, DVDa3 has a very good help manual.

January 16, 2006 at 8:16 am in reply to: Vegas 6 Crashes while doing HDV capture from FX1 – any ideas?First, you need to make sure you are using the “Internal capture” for capturing hdv. The external capture program is for dv footage.
Uncheck the option for “Use external video capture application” in the Options|Preferences|Video tab.
You must also ensure that Windows sees the FX1 correctly

It could possibly be a corrupted file in your installation of Vegas.
Have you been able to work with similar footage before?
Although a pain sometimes, things happen on computers (files getting corrupted etc) and the only way to resolve these kind of happenings is to unibtsall and re-install your software.

The help section has information on scripting.
Vegas scripting uses the Microsoft .NET framework for scripting. You can write scripts in JScript or Visual Basic .NET
There are already a host of scripts available on the net, some freeware, others payware.
A good example and excellent script to use is this one:

I have found that with most onboard firewire, you can encounter problems (not seeing camera or external device).
It would be in your best interest to get a PCI firewire card. They vary in price but I use a fairly ‘cheap and nasty’ 1394 card and have never had hassles on any of the machines i have built for myself or others.
