How to change a transition to exact duration without just dragging. Isn`t there a way to get into the fade offset box?

You can zoom into the timeline which will give you better control. If you have the full version of Vegas, Scripting can do this very easily. VMS doesn’t have scripting, though.

I use Vegas 6 at the moment, so I guess I can do scripting. How does that excactly work? I`ve never made scripts. Is it a link where I can read more abot how to make scripts?

The help section has information on scripting.

Vegas scripting uses the Microsoft .NET framework for scripting. You can write scripts in JScript or Visual Basic .NET

There are already a host of scripts available on the net, some freeware, others payware.

A good example and excellent script to use is this one:

Both Vegas and Vegas Movie Studio are at version 6. As long as it’s the full version, you can definitely do scripting. Jeremy pointed you to Excalibur – the original big script written for Vegas when Vegas 4 added scripting nearly 3 years ago (updated several times since then). You can also find a lot of information in my newsletters (link under my name). Finally, look at the following:

Also, if you’re using Vegas and not Movie Studio, you might want to check out the main Vegas forum at https://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_view_posts.cgi?forumid=24 too.
