Have you tried creating a new library and copying the project over to there. If it’s stable long enough to let you do that, it’s something that often fixes corruptions.
As far as the other goes, are you absolutely certain the original/optimised media is actually there? It sounds like the proxy is fine but the full resolution media is either missing or corrupted. I’ve certainly had projects crash because something has gone wrong with the original media files and I’ve had to restore them from a backup.
Another thought might be to try sending the project XML to something like Worx4 X and letting it re-render all the original files and create a new library.

In my experience, that’s usually caused by the Shogun losing power, either the battery running out or the Shogun being switched off with the power button rather than through the menu option, causing a corrupt file. The solution is generally to put the original SSD back into the Shogun and get it to play those specific clips. The Shogun will recognise that they’re broken and offer to rebuild them, usually successfully.
I’ve never found any other solution to fixing those files so please let me know if Jeremy’s suggestion works.

Not 100% sure what you’re asking but an FCPX transition is either centred around your edit point or, if there’s not enough frames in one or both clips to do that, will warn you and move the edit point to create enough frames for the transition to be added.

What’s happening in Vegas when you do the import? Where’s it failing? And have you tried sending it a simpler test project? And I guess, the more obvious question, is that version of Vegas compatible with the version of fcpxml that you’re sending it?

Logic’s ability to import FCPX XML is a work in progress and improves with every update but a year ago it was buggy. In the current version of the software, it still has its issues but works much better. X2pro on the other hand, is software dedicated to getting FCPX audio into a format that any Pro Tools compatible DAW should be able to read and has been doing it a lot longer than Logic has, giving it an advantage over the basic import built into Logic.
As Jeremy says, the updates for both Logic and FCPX are free and give you many more useful features than just improved XML handling – so if sending audio to Logic is important, updating seems like a no-brainer.

You’re a full version behind on both apps and the exchange between them has improved between the 10.3 and 10.4 versions. My only suggestion has to be update to the current versions and see if the problem persists.

Boris Continuum has a depth of field plug-in that will use the depth map but outside of that, there’s nothing I can think of that’s going to do the job in FCPX. I’m impressed you can even get it to sort-of work.
Maybe try the Motion forum and see if anyone there has a suggestion.

Firstly, it’s never going to be the same quality because you’re going from HD to SD when you make the DVD. Plus Toast’s encoder is notoriously poor quality.
That said, and I haven’t burnt a DVD in many years now, when I was using Toast, if you gave it an already encoded MPG2 file it just created a DVD from it without re-encoding – so just use Compressor or whatever to create the DVD compliant file and then get Toast to burn that.

According to the user guide, FCPX sends the proxy files to compressor unless you switch back to original/optimised before export.
It’d be nice to be warned if you were still in proxy mode when you do an export so let’s keep sending that in as a feature request.
