Hoops – read that a bit too quickly and just realised the workflow was in the post. The only step I see missing is testing the archive before deleting the original.
Just wondering are you creating the archive on the same drive or a different drive? I’ve had consolidation not work the way you’d expect if the two libraries are on the same physical disk.

I don’t really trust archiving in any NLE. I always test on another machine or with the original drive offline before I consider it safe to delete anything.
What’s your procedure for archiving? Just wondering if you’re maybe missing a step somewhere…

HyColour Pro has a pro-mist filter that I’ve used from time to time. Digital Anarchy have Beauty Box plugin, Red Giant have Cosmo. There’s also a free plugin I picked up ages ago that I use a lot which I think is part of a set called “Brett’s FX” but I’m not near the computer to say for 100%.
If you want to DIY you can duplicate the footage, apply a slight gaussian blur to the top layer, then composite it using either the Screen or Lighten modes. Adjust the upper clip transparency and amount of blur to taste.

It all depends on how much noise you have to deal with of course but the best option for dealing with it is almost always going to be iZotope RX.

As far as I know, Resolve doesn’t read anything of the audio levels and keyframes coming from FCPX. I guess they’re more focussed on the image and the edit.

FCPX always applies stabilisation to the full clip. What you’re currently doing is probably the best way to just apply it to a shortened section. I do most of my stabilisation in Resolve or Mocha so I’m not sure if there are any third party plugins that just work on the used portion of the clip.

It’s possible your computer isn’t up to recording the screen and running the app you want to record at the same time – or more specifically the GPU isn’t keeping up. What’s the app you’re trying to capture?
I’d suggest downloading a trial of some the dedicated screen recording applications and seeing if it still happens. They are way more optimised to record in the background that Quicktime is.

Unless you tell it not to in the preferences, FCPX is constantly creating render files in the background. If they corrupt for some reason, you can get weird glitches in your playback.
I’m not in front of the app right now but under the file menu, you get to delete either unused render files or all render files. Choose all render files.
Once they’re deleted, your glitch should be fixed and FCPX will start recreating the render files in the background.

Have you used the option in the file menu to delete all render files? That’s usually the cure for odd glitches and 100 times less likely to break the project than the things you’ve tried so far…

Just wondering why detach the audio instead of putting the b-roll above the clip on the primary storyline and merging that down to replace the video at that spot?
