Sorry to miss the “Express” part – I don’t know if Cow has an express forum.

Meanwhile – @ 2 minutes, if you’re going to manually use h.264, I suggest you use the data rate of approx. 6000 for your video – this will yield a file, a little under 100 megabytes

1) no, keep the file interlaced if it was interlaced. If the frame rate was 24, it might be progressive.
2) Might – depends on the broadcast specs.
3) Actually, it interpolates the missing information. It’s just upsampling. And DVDs are 4:2:0
4) Yes.

DVD structure: yup, copy the video TS folder.

Lots of program will play it, including VLC player.

Compressor comes with FCP; and theres a preset for youtube (you can upload files larger than 100mbs)

If you have the QuickTime file in HD and the SD names match…

Take the sequence, Media Manage – Make Offline, pick the sequence type you want…and then relink.

I’ll ask: Why? You can mix HD and SD footage in a timeline; SD has a lower demand than HD…..

But again, understanding the why is valuable for advice.

No, all of that is pretty standard. I’ve used MPEG files out of compressor on PC DVD authoring. Hmm. They should specify the actual GOP length…but that’s about all that’s worth mentioning (and with CBR, it shouldn’t really matter much about the GOP.)

put three clips in a stack so each clip starts 2 seconds after the prior one.

Do the following at a point in the stack where all three clips are visible:

Scale and crop each down. Move them off the center of the frame.
By scaling it down, each clip won’t be full screen.
By cropping, each clip won’t have all of its pixels.
By repositioning the center, each clip comes up on part of the screen.

As each shot comes on, it’ll have that ’24’ feel.
