Paul,
Couple of things – You’re in an HD project (correct timing) – change the raster size to 1280×1080 to match the footage.
-FCP is whatever the timeline is and scales the clip.
-Avid outputs everything full 1080, but corrects for the pixels (invisibly) dimensions. Generally, you get the best performance when your raster type matches your footage.
-Motion Adaptors (just couldn’t remember the name this AM while teaching an Adv. FCP class) are usually a sign of a speed mismatch – and showing you exactly what sort of work is being done under the hood to handle the speed differences – as well as let you change the way it’s handled (if you don’t like the method.)[Paul Dougherty] “FCP has been a champ and MC (that I’d like to edit with) has been bizzaro.

Technically 1080 60i, is 60 field pairs being played back at 29.97 frames per second (in other words, they’re equivalent.)I don’t think I can look at it until tomorrow, but I could throw similar stuff in a timeline here – I suspect with AMA that it’s not seeing the speed of one of the QuickTime files correctly (hence the motion adaptor.)

Full frames require more data.
More I frames/keyframes means MORE DATA IS BEING SPENT on those frames (meaning LESS on the delta frames)A data rate is a budget of how much data gets spread across a second.
LESS keyframes mean more data can go into the delta frames = higher quality.
Automatic? Software is using a given data rate to build a ‘best’ or quality rate…who knows what the algorhythim is.

What kind of Avid project is it in?
The green dot means that you have a motion effect because it detects a difference in speed. It’s not ‘bad’ per se – just something that automatically happens with rate differences.

Select the clips you want to remove effects from.
Right click (or edit menu) – Remove Attributes (CMD-Opt V)
Select filters.
Say ok.You’ll lose ALL The filters on those clips.

Well, if it loses picture in the middle on the PC…and that’s what you used to upload it…then it’ll have a problem on youtube.
Could be that the QuickTime file is damaged…and the transport mechanism (USB thumb drive?) is the culprit. Upload it from the mac…and then you’ll know.

You can create a clip with transparency to act as a watermark – such as a photoshop or PNG file.
I don’t think FCE handles AVCHD natively. You’ll need something like mpeg streamclip…
And last – you’ll be frustrated, because it’s not as capable as Vegas.

Glue the ALT and CONTROL keys to it via the command palette. (the little CTL and ALT)
