If you have continiously rasterize turned on, then the lights will pass through into the current comp from the pre-comp.

Particular with a custom particle will do exactly that.
But dont expect to get it quickly if you’ve only spent “a little time” with particular.

    Best of luck…..

btw – There is a tutorial on here somewhere that will get you close to this,….I think its an “Ipod ad” tut….

You can use the RPF file format to render, and then use that info to create a camera in AE. BUT, you will find that it is very, very limited.

There is more to it than ‘matching the camera’. You need to be able to sync AE elements (layers) within your 3D space so everything seems like it’s in one environment.

The “only” way to be able to handle all this properly is with the plugin MAX2AE (boomerlabs.com). This allows for seamlessly transferring all your camera, object and light data from MAX into AE, AND allowing you to transfer from AE into MAX as well.
So you can go back and forth, tweaking camera and objects/layers in either application!

It is a night and day difference from any other workflow available.

    Particular.
    Custom particle = arrow head.
Aux_system = emit many particles to serve as the line. (adjust opacity/size maps to taste)
Use light path to animate head,…..

    best.

  • MAX2AE from boomerlabs.com provides incredible MAX/AE integration. Far superior to anything C4D does.

Transfer camera/object/lights..etc animation both from MAX to AE and from AE to MAX as well.

Work on scenes, tweaking animation and such in both apps and it maintains between the two.

Extremely useful being able to animate in AE then take it into MAX and then back.

    Very powerful plugin.

BUT technically, MAX does not have any ‘native’ support for AE integration. Again though, with a few $$$ you can have incredible integration.

‘Grow Bounds’ should handle this perfectly.
