Hello, hope this query has not come up too many times..

What I wonder is, if it is possible to use a mask or bitmap, with for instance the shape of an arrow, follow a motion path smoothly so that the body of the arrow bends in the curves?

I’m not using cs3 where I suppose the puppet tool could help out.. Advice for plug-ins would be welcome too!

    Cheers!

I’ve done the same thing a while ago. I used 3D Stroke to make the body of the arrow.
With 3D Stroke the line (which you can make as thick as you want) bends in the curves of the path. You just have to put the arrow head in front of the body and limit the body length with the Start/End-Parameters in 3D Stroke.

    Particular.
    Custom particle = arrow head.
Aux_system = emit many particles to serve as the line. (adjust opacity/size maps to taste)
Use light path to animate head,…..

    best.

Wow!! Thanks a lot for quick answers. That seems like quite an inventive solution!! I have to learn to think that way!
