Motion track it to stabilize it.
Easy enough to do…..you will have to ‘scale’ the footage up though so that as it is stabilized the edges do not show…..
Look under stabilize and/or motion tracker in AE help/manual……………. -
That tutorial I think is not what is being referred to…..I think.
If you are looking to truly grow a rose, in 3d, with perspective and all that,….I would suggest modelling it in 3D, then rigging the petals, and doing the appropriate scaling while animating the rig to get the flowey, unfurling nature of the bud evolving into the open rose…….
Don’t really know of any easy way, and I am not familiar enough with Maya Paint…. -

Gonna give you my 2 cents on all this as well,
Houdini, too complex for the casual post environment. Definately for more of a demanding pipeline.
Truespace?….Didn’t even know they still made it,…so no comment.
Maya?….Great app, uses Mental Ray for rendering, very nice….again, learning curve.
XSI?….Another great app, uses MR for rendering,….learning curve.
Lightwave…..no recent experience to comment on.
MAX….What I use, great app, MR for rendering and with MAX2AE it integrates with AE far tighter than C4D. Again, learning curve though.
C4D, no MR. But good looking renderer nonetheless. Decent AE integration, and the reason it has become such a mainstay of the mograph community is its ease of use. A layman can learn C4D much quicker than any of the above apps.My 2 cents.

I could be wrong,….but I believe you can do this by making a precomp with your custom particle in it,…make it 3D and rotate it.
Use that comp as your custom particle,…(collapse transformations too).
Oughta do it…..

time remapping. Check it in the help files.

You can use Particular to emit any type of particle you want. Including animating particles, and even different particles every frame……
Use custom particle type. You can use a comp as a particle for including animating particles. And you can precomp comps or particles into a comp at every frame and use the ‘birth’ options to sample which particles to emit and when……..

February 26, 2006 at 7:42 pm in reply to: Possible to change BG color of timeline from black to another color?Yup. Thats what I neded up doing,……… I was just hoping that maybe similar to AE,…you could change the BG color,…and it would only be an ‘alpha’ if you needed it to be.
No big deal….
Thanks for the help!
