Your luck has run out now, so upgrade to a Firewire 800 connection. You’ll be much happier. FYI, you should store your autosave files on the system drive and your media/renders on the external.

Not only has Panasonic eliminated the record-time limit, with the GH2 they have overcome the moire problem. I love the images I’m getting from my GH2 and I’ve been very happy with the audio I’m recording in-camera as well. How can Canon be any better?

AJA seems to be a bit tight-lipped on the subject, but I wish we could get a straight answer. I left a message for AJA tech support a few months ago regarding similar issues with Premiere… and for the first time ever they did not respond. Maybe AJA doesn’t know what the problem is… ??

Audio on the Panasonic GH2 is very usable. I typically run a mic into a JuicedLink DT454 then out into the GH2 for recording. I have the GH2’s audio gain on the lowest setting and let the JuicedLink’s wonderful preamps do most of the work.
The GH2 has no record time limitation. I ran a 16GB card all the way through ––that’s 1.5 hours of video. The camera was barely warm to the touch.

Real Estate video has been discussed a number of times on the COW, so you might want to do a search. As I recall, the general consensus was that for high-end (million dollar+) real estate, it could be profitable. As always, you just figure out how long it will take you and multiply by your rate.

I, too, have a Porta-Jib Traveller, but alas… no animated gif. Keep in mind that the $2,500 can easily escalate (depending on how many animated gifs you want). I ended up getting the purpose-made tripod for $500 and just got the floor dolly for another $1,200. And if you get the hard cases for all that, you can add another grand. It’s all high quality stuff and it looks cool too. Although, I must say that my little Panasonic GH2 does look a bit ridiculous on the end of the Porta-Jib.
