I’m rendering in Motion as we speak so I can’t test to see if I’m correct or not, but I think maybe if you hold the shift key while moving the anchor point, it might snap to edges/corners (is that right?). Please someone correct me…

Other thought, you could use a camera and sweep your image from -90 to 0. Might look cooler too.

You mean like how TBS ruins (I mean re-edits) movies…

Open the QT (in QT), hit Apple+J, go to Video Track “visual settings” and make sure “high quality” is checked. Then save.

  • I’ve seen sync problems when video is shot accidentally in LP instead of SP. Do you know how it was shot? Is it in sync on tape during playback? I’m wondering if it’s worth recapturing.

If you nested the clip, and rendered that nested sequence out, might that work also?

I prefer to call it the rotating beach ball of death.

Is your system running smoothly otherwise? Have you done your Pro Apps updates?

The hard part is that the lava splits apart and congeals randomly.

You’ll need to employ a combo of randomizing/oscillating shape size and distortion, orbiting or random gravity (around an invisible object), etc… the Afterburner and Gravity Motor emitters have similar properties – might help to study them. The Cellular generator does the whole split/congeal thing, but it’s tough to control it the way you might want to…

Sounds like a cool project. Share your approach, and let us know if you pull it off.

I have FCP Studio 2 running on a 1.8 GHz G5 (original power pc) at home, works fine… slow, but fine.

Apple dealers don’t know anything about FCP – unless maybe he works for the Pro Apps dept of Apple – I doubt this sales guy does. Of course he wants you to spend the extra $800.

I’d make a wish list of all the other cool things you could get with your $800… if a slightly faster render time still trumps all the cool plug-ins, software, etc. you could add to your machine – then go with it.

Throw it in a group and animate the group.
