    Open-GL
If you recently updated your Nvidia drivers try to roll them back to the version that worked.
If not, uninstall Nvidia’s drivers and install new ones.
Is your Open-GL plug-in installed in the right folder (sometimes people move it for troubleshooting)

    Cache:
    you can try to reset AE’s preferences;
    Hold CTRL+SHIFT+ALT while booting AE
Seems to fix a lot of errors

Some thing to try: (bizarre but it fixes quite a lot)
Create a new user in Windows and work in that user.
    maybe, just maybe …..

you can switch off the Hardware Acceleration in
control Panel -> display properties -> settings -> troubleshoot

if it helps, the error has something to do with the display-drivers,
rolling back to an older driver might help.

maybe you can restore your system to a date it still worked,
if you’ve made restore points ?

    other than that,
to have hardware accelleration back again nobody seemed to have a better solution than reinstallings your OS 🙁
Sometimes it’s just the fastest way !

indeed, not that much to find on google…

Quicktime and Codecs are key here, but you’ve done that already.
    Do you have a 3rd party Video-card ?
    Installed updates recently ?
Resetting AE won’t probably help here, but you can try (boot AE while holding CTRL+SHIFT+ALT)

It seems most people find the solution in a new OS installation 🙁

    AE7 works great on XP64,
running it about 2 years without problems.

Other software can give more problems,
Quicktime is still very buggy on XP64 🙂

January 3, 2009 at 10:42 pm in reply to: DV PAL anamorphic ?

    “PAL D1/DV Widescreen”
    is the one you need.
It’ll give you a comp for
-PAL D1/DV wich is 720×576 pixels
    -Widescreen wich is 16:9

  • Set your original 1440×1080 file as a proxy to the downscaled ones, and render out with the setting “enable all proxies”

    Next time,
    work the other way around,
set the downscaled files as a proxy to the originals !!

December 30, 2008 at 11:47 pm in reply to: How to get 25i from 50p in AE

    After Step 4,
drag that comp into a new comp,
make the new comp half the time of the comp in step 4,
speed up the comp (as a layer) from step 4,
and render interlaced out of after effects.

in other words… reverse your workflow after step 4
