Happy New Years everyone. I have a quick request of r a client. Does anyone know what font is used for the “Washington Post” mast head. My client has given me a jpeg of his font , but has no idea what the font is.

    thanks in advance

edit. I know this isn’t an After Effects question per se, but I think Motion Graphics Artists might know some fonts on sight

    Hi,

This is is the standard response from NYT.

“The New York Times logo [known as the Nameplate or Flag], which appears at the top of the page, is hand-drawn, copyrighted and cannot be reproduced without permission.”

The original designer of the Nameplate (The Masthead is the part of the newspaper where the names of the officers, editors, etc., are listed.) has been a long running debut in design history.

So to answer your question it isn’t a formal typeface. However, I’m sure if you do a search on myfonts.com or dafont.com you can find a very close knock off.

Opps That doesn’t do you much good since you are looking for the Washington Post. HAHA sorry about that. However, the same holds true for the Post the Nameplate was hand drawn as a logo and isn’t a font family, just like the NYT. And, of course is copywrited.
