Oh please John, this is just a silly guess. Frankly we use more than that on the DVX100B. I suppose the factory will eventually release the spec, but as the camera stands right now on a resolution chart it is on par with all of the other small HD cameras.

Yes as long as you are recording DVCPRO or DVCPRO50. The analog outputs are pre-compression.

Hi Toke,

You are right, it is not poor engineering but rather based on technical reasons and thus, intentional. This has been discussed before as to why not and frankly to bring it up again, to say the same things seems fruitless. There are technical reasons why this is not possible, and just because you do not want to give them merit, does not mean that it is possible. It is vastly more difficult than you may even imagine.

Unfortunately for you Harry, you are making your decision based on what you saw, and that is the only 24F footage you saw was recorded on the DVCPRO HD codec and you never saw the HDV with 24F codec. So as long as you are going use the $26,000 deck to go with that H1, then you should experience results like those they were showing in their booth at DV Expo.

However it seemed from where I stood, that the low light was limiting to the H1 and it still had a very videoish look to it. I would encourage you to take a closer look in your own hands and record the HDV with the 24F and then see if it really comes close to the HVX200. I think if you did, you would know what everyone else knows, and that is DVCPRO HD is a better format for the production half of the equation.

As far as availability of the camera we are shipping the camera in Decemeber and they should be available shortly thereafter. Fortunately for those guys that put in pre-orders, they will be first on the list, but some may not have their money together and the first pass through the list may happen quickly, but I would say that by the end of January we should be pretty close to meeing all backorders that have been presold.

Hi,

Here is what I can say, it is a 1/3″ progressive imager that puts out more resolution than say the Sony Z1. The analog signal coming off of it captures 1080P/60 and then converts the signal from there.

Hey I have seen the price go to $3500 a day with equipment, so I don’t think that Mike is all that far off. Talent is not a commodity. So if a producer is paying that $3500 and the producer didn’t hire real talent, shame on the producer. But the guys I have seen go for this sort of change, are phenomenal.
