  • Hi,

While fully believe you cannot switch between the channels with the switch as the camera would think that that was a mistake and thus will not allow it. My question is why do you want to do that? Perhaps there is another method.

Use the PASS website. The sticker on your camera’s LCD should give you the URL.

[Terry Leahy] “I have to rent a camera for an all day presentation event and am deciding between the Sony EX-3 or HPX250. It is a two camera shoot and the other camera will be the HPX-370 which will be used as the close up angle. I know that the 250 will match better with 370 but theoretically (at least price would dictate) that the EX-3 is superior.”

The HPX250 and the HPX370 share the same imager set. The HPX250 can record in AVC-Intra as can the HPX370 which is a 4:2:2 I frame only 10 bit codec which the EX3 can’t even come close to. It bet format is 4:2) Long GOP, and 8 bit. You will have a much easier time in matching the P2 cameras and a much better time in post with the AVC-Intra.

Sounds like you should have Panasonic check it out.

  • Hi,

The adapter is having a conversation with the camera and it flat out will not work with the HVX200. And even if it did the most you would be able to write to a standard SD card would be 50Mbs, which in AVC-Ultra looks good and is an HD signal, but in DVCPRO, that is standard def.

    Sorry,

  • Hi,

Because the processors in the AVC-Intra cameras are newer and fast, the MicroP2 will work with them. The HVX200’s processor cannot be upgraded, so unfortunately it cannot be used.

    Sorry,

  • Hi,

We are not trending away from P2 at all, and in fact, has introduced 3 new cameras this year under the P2 banner. We do offer a nice line up in the lower cost cameras of AVCHD?SD Cards which will allow the recording of AVCHD.

But since the OP already has P2, this quandry of accepting P2 is moot. I think the beautiful step up in this studio situation would be the AG-HPX255, as you can add a real, remote paint box.

    Hope this helps,

February 14, 2013 at 5:56 pm in reply to: Panasonic Drops the Ball with AG-HPX600

    Hi,

The HPX600 VF is made of Magnesium so that it is light, and this may cause people to assume that the VF is plastic. The extender that comes out to the eye is plastic, but those have been plastic for years.

The camera itself is a very ruggedly built that is probably the best bang for the buck in its category. I believe the reviewer should have qualified his statement about what he was reviewing which from the description I know that he was looking at a non-serial numbered unit. These are not perfect units and he should have said as much.

The HPX600 stands ready for a good number of upgrades but with VF, Lens and camcorder you will spend at list price 21,950. The HPX3100 without lens and VF is 21,110. At the HPX price point it should dominate its price range for cameras considering its features, build quality and expansion capabilities.

    Hope this helps,

The flourescent lights are causing the pulsations. Set your shutter speed to be something other than a derivative of the electrical current. So if you are in a 60 HZ set it to 1/50th or if you are in 50Hz country set to 1/60th. I am assuming because you are experiencing this at 1/100th you are in a 50Hz country.

    Good Luck,

    Hi,

The AG-AC90 will also do 1080P/60 at 28Mbs, and has 5 axis image stabilization as well as being a 3 chip camera. Its low light performance is along the lines of 1/3″ camera with the BSI chips in it. It has very high resolution chips and the ergonomics of it are really nice. Price/performance winner. Delivering in a couple of weeks.
