  • Panasonic AJ-P2AD1G MicroP2 Memory Card Adapter questions

Posted by Nelson May on June 11, 2013 at 5:26 pm

I have been out of the video shooting loop for about four years now, but want to start using my HVX200 again for some indie projects.

I was looking at a p2 card reader and saw this: Panasonic AJ-P2AD1G MicroP2 Memory Card Adapter.

Since I am out of the loop, with this adapter work with most High capacity HD cards. I have a 32GB (i think it is class 10) for my go pro hero 3.

Anyway, can you help me with my excitement of not having to buy a P2 card reader. Does this adapter need the Panasonic 32GB MicroP2 UHS-II Memory Card, or can I use SDHX and SDHX cards with it. Will I also be able to record all the current formats offered on my HVX200?

Thanks and help me with my excitement!

Panasonic has no announce plans to allow the HVX200 to use the adapter.

    Hi,

Because the processors in the AVC-Intra cameras are newer and fast, the MicroP2 will work with them. The HVX200’s processor cannot be upgraded, so unfortunately it cannot be used.

    Sorry,

    Hi Jan,

Just to be sure, the adapter itself won’t work? Even without Panasonic’s SD card and a regular SDHC?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The adapter is having a conversation with the camera and it flat out will not work with the HVX200. And even if it did the most you would be able to write to a standard SD card would be 50Mbs, which in AVC-Ultra looks good and is an HD signal, but in DVCPRO, that is standard def.

    Sorry,

    Jan

Is the HVX 200 being phased out? I can still use the camera with my dual adapter on a leopard boot drive. Will the AJ-PCD2 P2 Card Reader work on OSX Mountain Lion, or is this going away as well?

    Thanks.

    Jan,

Will Panasonic be making an update to allow the HPX-300 to use the new adapters? It has a processor that can do AVC-Intra.
