Although I am not certain of the exact setup on Shanes station at NAB, I was not there for setup. The HVX200 will not pass from the NLE through it to the component analog cable and onto an HD monitor. You could set the camera for SD output and it would work however. This might be part of the confusion?

It is not a world wide worranty, the warranty is in the country of origin. Looking at the fact you are asking for a HVX202, this is a China model or at least Asia, I believe. There would be no warranty here in the US, and at this point it would be difficult to trouble soot some parts of a problem with this camera as it is so new.
Best to purchase where you will be, so if you are going to be traveling in Asia, then buy it there and you will have the info on where to send it. Or purchase the HVX200 here and again you will know where to send it.
Now you can get something fixed in a foriegn country, pay for the service and then file to have the warranty covered to the Company that is responsible for the warranty service. For example you are in Chine, something goes wrong. You have it fixed and then once you are back in the US you apply to Panasonic US for reimbursement. The only way this doesn’t always work out is exchange rates, so the value of your receipt may flucuate with the exchange rate, but as long as it is a warranty repair, it would be covered. A little more paperwork but covered.

I would use like a MAgic Bullet to get the 24P look and then convert to 720P, this is assuming that they shot it 1080/60i. If they shot 1080/24P or 24PA the answer would be different. So be clear on what you have and then we can recommend from there.

There was no review, but if you contact me off line I can put you in touch with the guy that did it for me. I was done by Michael Caporale out of Cincinnati with one of the prototype cameras we got in back in November. He recorded the music video to an HD1200 DVCPRO HD machine over firewire and then all of the other stuff that got supered was with P2. As far as camera settings you would have to ask Mr. Fussy himself. 😉 He also owns a Varicam and an SDX900, and in my book he is a real camera color guy.

David, the warehouse has been working through all of the backorders so you should get yours soon. The final pieces that were holding it up came together at a later than expected date.

Recoomended practice is to move the footage off of the P2 Store before you Import to FCP. You could corrupt your files on import over USB. So when you are moving your files out of the No Name folders you could move them into folders that have more meaning for the content, Like Scene 1 or Scene 2. Do not change the structure of the CONTENTS folder in the least and this will make them non-importable.

PP2 does support uncopressed HD, but at this particualr time only supports the DVCPRO HD with the Matrox Axio as the system behind it.

Look in you manual on page 90, where it shows the full layout of the LCD. On the lower left hand side you see a 83%, if you follow the numbered explanation it suggests that this is the lumininace meter MARKER. If you then follow that idea back to the Menus, under DISPLAY Setup you have the opportunity to turn it on or off. It comes in the ON mode. You use the Zebra button to turn it on. I think it can show with one push with the zebras, or not with the second pushHope this helps,

It is different. And it does indeed look different than 60i. It may be that the additional color resolution is filling in a little that used to be different, who knows.

The Capture setup is set for DVCPRO50 at 29.97. And if you did not capture in 24PA then you will have to deal with Cinema Tools to remove the excess frames. In 24PA you merely go to the Sequence set up window and click on the remove 2:3:3:2. There is no automatic way to remove the standard 24P in FCP. So let’s say that you do this set up properly, and the footage on the P2 card is in 24PA, then once you do the P2 import you will have the clips sitting in your bin at 23.98. Or if you have shot 24P, you will then have to use CinemaTools to remove and then import the new files at 23.98.
It is handled much the same as the DVX100 footage except it is set up as DVCPRO50.
