Is there a way of importing all the files on the P2 store at the same time? I shot a series of interviews on 3, 4 gig, P2 cards and offloaded them to a P2 store. About 8 No Name Folders mount on the desktop when I attach the P2 Store to the Mac G5 via usb2. In FCP I go to import file/Panasonic P2. But it seems as though I can only import individual clips or import all the clips from a single P2 card image contained on the P2 store at a time. Umm…shouldn’t there be a way of importing all the clips on the P2 store at the same time?

Recoomended practice is to move the footage off of the P2 Store before you Import to FCP. You could corrupt your files on import over USB. So when you are moving your files out of the No Name folders you could move them into folders that have more meaning for the content, Like Scene 1 or Scene 2. Do not change the structure of the CONTENTS folder in the least and this will make them non-importable.

    Hope this helps,

    Jan,

I am still having problems copying files reliably from my P2 Store over to a MBP. It’s rare that all will copy without at least a file error or 2. Importing directly thru FCP seems to totally alleviate the problem but after I read your response above I’m a bit perplexed. Does the firmware update help in alleviating file errors? I’ve tried copying the lastclip file first and turning off the verify function and that seemed to help. Someone else recommended turning off the motion sensor but as I’m using OS X I haveen’t done that yet.

First of all thanks for the responses so quickly.

I havn’t yet experienced a file error on transfer yet. What happens when I do? Do I just erase the file and transfer it again? Or is the file corrupted forever?

A second question is I’m demoing the SPX800 and the HVX200 side by side today and so far the P2 technology is working fine. Other than wanting a batch import feature.

My real problem seems to be that I don’t think I have scene file that I’m happy with. The SPX is a 2/3″ chip camera and I have a HD Fujinon lens on it. But it looks 100% better than the HVX one one big issue. The HVX is riddled with noise in the image. I assume all responsibility for this for the time being as I’m still learning the technical engineering of cameras. but what would the top few scene file setting be that I should tweak to help the HVX out with this noise issue?
    Thanks
    Chris
