You may not have the Luminance plug-in transition used throughout.

The reason I’m looking for a good lossless format is because I appear to be forced into a situation where I’m going to have to render this short 3.5 min video in at least two parts. By disabling GPU render I’m up to 64% before it craps out. So I will render two separate halves and use the rendered videos as part of my master veg instead of nesting this problem veg which won’t render. So I want the best quality that won’t degrade when it gets rendered again. So if not lossless, maybe if I just use the same render format as the final production will be (i.e. HD MainConcept internet 1080p) Vegas won’t have to mess with it when I render the master?

August 20, 2013 at 3:36 pm in reply to: Full Screen Preview Fails

Thanks for the reply Stephen. Yes I’m talking about the Preview Quality. For years and years the way this function worked for me was the Auto setting adjusted the video preview size to fit the window size you created for the preview (undocked preview window on second monitor). The Half option gave you exactly half sized preview regardless of the size of the window you’ve created for it. And Full gave you the actual size of the frame. So if I have a small preview window, I could not see the entire frame in either half or full – my preview window is usually sized to fit a quarter view. The way it used to work, even though I could not see the full frame, I COULD view the frame in actual size and the effects I’m working on can be viewed as they will look once rendered. In auto mode, and subsequently with the way things are working now, I can’t “zoom” in and see how things really look. Even this week for some odd reason when I started Vegas it was working the “old” way I was used to. But then it switched back.

There are some settings under Preferences that I thought might affect this situation:
    1. Preview Device tab – “Scale output to fit display” has no noticeable affect on my preview.
    2. Video tab – “Display at project size” has no noticeable affect on my preview either.
So I’m not sure what either of these functions is doing if indeed they are working at all.

Have you tried to disable resampling under the properties menu?

May 24, 2013 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Pros & Cons re editing on large TV

My son uses a 32″ flat panel TV as a main monitor and it works fine for browsing and watching online videos. However, I would think that the resolution limitations would be an issue while editing. Even though your final video may never exceed a 1080p equivalent, having the added resolution beyond that would make your editing easier. Not to mention you can pack a lot more pixel into a smaller size monitor than you would get out of a TV.

Do you still have the “Show mask only” button checked?

I’ve never had a problem with Sony’s light rays. Boris’s BCC8 for Vegas also has rays with more features, but alas, not free.

May 20, 2013 at 2:32 pm in reply to: Audio Leveling – whatever it’s called

OK, thanks all. What I hear are two options: Normalize and Compress. And yes, I’ve seen them but no I have not tried them. Which is used when or do I apply both?

Situation: Reasonable audio level but occasional applause that spike the meter?

Situation: One loud talker and one soft talker?

Are there any tutorials out there on the use of either of these tools?

    Thanks again, great responses!

March 5, 2013 at 5:16 am in reply to: Super Slow Mo with Vegas 10.0

You can use velocity envelopes in addition to the ctrl drag. I do believe that way you’ll be able to make use of the extra frames to get a smooth slo mo. If you’re only using ctl drag you’re limited to 1/4 speed – so if you render and slow it down again, you’re high frame rate is going to waste.

Try animating the curve and then copy and paste the keyframe.
