Correct slow-motion from GoPro
Hey guys, first time poster.
Just recently acquired Vegas Pro 12 Edit, upgrading from PE11. After much conversation with my friend who uses FCP and numerous searchs about the correct way to apply slow-motion without dropping frames, ghostings etc I thought I could come hear to get the definitive word.
Ok so here is what I have been told, for example I use my GoPro to capture 1080p 60FPS video.. I was told create a timeline at 29.97 FPS (not sure on exaxt framerate gopro use..). Drop my 60FPS footage into the timeline.. Vegas will ask me if I want to match the source settings.. I click no.. Vegas will still play my video back at normal speed by dropping half of the frames.. Now when I adjust the playback rate to ‘0.5’ to a portion of my clip Vegas will use all 60 fps without dropping any frames and have clear and crisp slow-mo.. Same said about 120fps..
I am not sure if this is correct but what I have been told, when I rendered out a video with PE11 (frame blending enabled when using slow motion) when pausing the video you would see ghosting when at half speed where infact every frame should be clear.. This was the reason a made the swap to Vegas Pro 12.
Thanks guys I would really appreciate your input as I am still abit of a noob but just want to make sure I am doing the correct thing for all my future videos.
Kind Regards,
Alex
