  • How to copy a curve.

Posted by Bob Peterson on March 1, 2013 at 1:56 am

I am copying a project from SVP 12 to SVP 10. I have succeeded in copying the events on the timeline, but not the track filters. I have tried saving a curve as a preset in SVP 12, but the preset does not show up on the preset list in SVP 10. The file is present on the harddrive, but SVP 10 is not including it in its list of presets. This curve took quite a while to get right, and I don’t want to do it over again.

Is there any way to copy a curve to a prior version of SVP?

What type of “curve” are you talking about? A Mask in Pan/Crop? An Envelope of some kind?

A color curve. It is particularly frustrating because Vegas does not show the values of points on the curve.

Try animating the curve and then copy and paste the keyframe.

I tried copying a keyframe. It did not work. The paste option in SVP 10 was grayed out.

Try copying the event from Pro 12 to Pro 10. If it works, open the FX window and save it. I have my doubts that it will work but it’s worth trying.

I just tried that. As you expected, it did not work. The event arrived in SVP 10, but without the filter. Vegas did generate an error message that a filter was not installed on the system.

[Bob Peterson] ” Vegas did generate an error message that a filter was not installed on the system.”

Yea, that’s because Vegas Pro 12.0 now uses OFX filters and Vegas Pro 10.0 used DirectX filters so the filters are not backward compatible because they use different technology.

Did you try saving the keyframes as a Filter Package (fx chain) even if there is only one keyframe? That might transfer over.
