January 7, 2009 at 1:11 pm in reply to: wrinkled text effect (like Heroes) – how do I do it?

From watching a compilation of each episode on youtube it really depends on which way you want to implement the text into the scene. For the basis of the text moving either on the X or Y axis simple tracking of the footage within after effects will suffice. When it comes to more complicated scenes involving rotation or position modification you might have to use a 3d tracking program like boujou. Now another method would be using the shatter effect in AE and manually keyframing the properties of the variables within the plug-in to match the 3d environment that you are compositing into. This would be long and tedious and not to mention tiring, and i personally would jump into boujou if available.

hmmn this can happen when the adobe installer quickly completes i.e unexpectedly quits but remains open telling you that it has finished the installation when in effect it actually hasnt. You see adobe programs when installed in the suite bundle for example all use the same in your case transmap file, translator and font server. the runtime files for these processes are all shared across all the programs to avoid the unnecessary use of space on the compilation of an individual one for each program. when you install the latest Adobe program these files are removed and replaced with the latest updated ones. so that is why upon searching i was not suprised that you were told to re-install the program. a few ways to avoid this happening again is top make sure that the adobe inataller is the only main process running at the time so that it can recieve a dedicated amount of ram also if there were any older versions of adobe products on your machine that you removed previously it wouldnt harm to do a clean up of your HDD as when you uninstall a program an awful amount of info and .dll files are left behind taking up space and can sometimes hinder the successful installation of future programs due in-compatability. yes i know it sounds confusing but it does happen. i recommend this program https://www.ccleaner.com/ .

what you could do is film your 10 soldiers in front of a green screen. Then using Trapcode’s particular have your particle set to custom and use your keyed green screen footage as the source layer! then adjust the rest of particulars settings in accordance with your scene!

Another way would be to film your 10 soldiers over and over again doing various movements and so forth then bunlde all these shots into one scene placed as how you would see fit!
    hope this helps!

did you turn on motion blur for the respectful layer and for the composition itself? Make sure both of these options are checked and your problem should be solved!

Try uninstalling The keylight that you initially installed. this will solve your problem for that plug-in. As for the rest check your plug-in directory and make sure taht you dont have duplictaes there also. This happened to me before and removing the duplicates from my system worked.

May 13, 2008 at 12:27 pm in reply to: Exclude ONE layer below Adjustment Layer?

Sorry i did not know that you had parenting applied.Yea i see where you are coming from. Its is quite tedious do do all that work just for one layer to free of the adjustment layer.Maybe you should contact adobe about it I remember there was a similar post there a while back regarding the same issue that you are dealing with! Or you could also check Dan Ebbert’s site and see if you can manipulate an already existing expression to suit your needs!

  • check your anchor point position. This has happend to me on a few occasions. Also try animating a null object then parent your layer to the null!

using the same techniques you used on the photoshop file can be applied in after effects with the paint tool options! you can keyframe the effects when and where to stop and start etc.
