Just pre-compose the adjustment layer with all the layers except the one layer in question.Hopefully that will help

Keyframe the transparencey of a solid the colour of your lights in question masked to suit the shape. Or you can just buy twitch (a very helpful product from Andrew Kramer!)

Try re-installing quicktime and making sure that the relative codec is installed on your system!

Another way of possibly achieving this effect through AE with no setup just the footage of the original shot.
Animate a mask on a single balck solid(a little bigger than your composition) to represent the opening and closing of the eyes and apply either a blur effect(which ever one suits best from your POV) or you can apply cc time warp and see how things work out for you. SFX will also help enhance your shot!Now i hope this helps you in some way or i could be completely out of context with what you have in mind!

Sony vegas is an editing program it isnt a compression one though it can do it, most video editing programs arent very good at it. My advice would be render it uncompressed then compress it with a compression program like sorenson squeeze or others. hope this helps!

hmmn this is strange alright. Have you any layers with demo version of plug-ins applied as this could be your source. or it could be an interlace problem that after effects is having trouble interpreting!

The length of time would depend on your compositon and how many photos you want to have behind! So it would be entirely up to you but once you have tweaked the animation to the way you like then repeating it wont be a problem!

It could be that vegas is using to much memory cahe when previewing thus not allowing for enough memory for a temp file whilst rendering.remember vegas caches a reference for every media piece you use in your comp,Check your memory preferences.

Im not too sure but try animating a circular mask expanding outward rotate it on the x-axis accordinly.Duplicate original footage and then add a displacment map to your mask with the dupliated layer as your displace source. Again i would need to look into this myself but it is 3:30am here and my head is a bit mush.Hope this helps you in some way

It could be that a library or runtime file has been corrupted those are the files that have the extension .dll(dynamic link library) They are the files that after effects will look for and rely on when starting up or when performing a particular task. Its the same with any present day windows based program. Another thing is that there could be an incompatible script or payload on your system conflicting with those that adobe have installed. If you have installed anything on your system in the past few days remove it and do a registry clean.Also if you had a beta version of AE or any other adobe cs3 product on your system or still on your system then their relevant scripts could also be interfering.If the problem is still persisting may i suggest that you run Adobe CS3Clean Script. Once you ahve done that re-install the program. if the problem then still persists contact Adobe Technical Support
