  • Advice on After Effects animation…

    Hi,

I wonder if someone could advise the best way forward in recreating an animation.

The animation can be seen on YouTube here at around 3 minutes into the film:
    here

It’s the part where the leaves start to fall and then finally ends up with a sparkly explosion and reveals a photo behind…and then continues to show different photos with animation between.

I want to recreate this so that i can have the leaf animation with transparent areas for adding photos behind and text on top. This will all be complied in Premier so ideally the leaf animation will be a permanent layer in Premier so i can alter text and images as i wish.

What’s the best way to go about this?

    Thanks for any advice.

My approach would be to have a leaf img as a top layer in an AE comp. Now apply the shatter effect with shatter type as custom.track the custom through an individual leaf layer.(to do this extract a leaf in photoshop and import the psd file in AE and place at the bottom of your compositiion)) Adjust the shatter point accordingly with your comp.place your desired img behind the shatter points. Note the leaf img layer will have to be duplicated with every shatter effect applied. Also make sure the original leaf layer is bigger than the comp in question this will give you enough room to pan around with your camera.

I hope this makes sense and at least gives you some perspective on the effect you are willing to achieve

    Hi,

    Thanks for the advice.

How long would you think it would take to make this animation…roughly?

The length of time would depend on your compositon and how many photos you want to have behind! So it would be entirely up to you but once you have tweaked the animation to the way you like then repeating it wont be a problem!

    Hi Jack,

It was just the leaf type of animation i was wondering about.
So the falling leaves and the sparkly bursts etc without the photos and wording.
How much time would you allow to do this animation?

    Thanks again for your help
