    What were your recording settings?
What frame rate do you want to edit at?

After ejecting P2 media you also need to power off the card,
icon up near the audio and monitor icons.

If you are going to edit with FCP I would suggest,
A used Powerbook with the PCMCIA slot.
Get P2 log and install FCP 5.1.2….
As suggested you could use a cheap PC….
But if you have any desire to do even the roughest editing
then the MAC set-up is the way to go….
With either system you will still want to
transfer the cards to an external harddrive.
If you go the PC route you can only view
footage with the Panasonic P2 viewer….
It is OK for logging but the window
is so small it is hard to view.
With the MAC and P2 log you can view footage
    full-screen right from the P2 cards…
Do a check and transfer the P2 card and
    off you go……
If you have an editor doing the transfers they
could do some rough edits while you shoot the next
    scene….
I have done this for spots and left the shoot
at the end of the day with almost a finished edit!!
You could also do that on PC but then you are limited
    to Edius or Avid Xpress.

This is because you were recording with 2 P2 cards in the camera.
Where are the CONTENTS and LASTCLIP.txt from the other P2 card?

You can create an .m2v and .ac3 file with compressor following the specs….
Then you need MPEGSTREAMCLIP to MUX them together to create the
    .TS file….

This can get tricky, ask them if they have a preferred software….
Depending on how tight they need them MPEGSTREAMCLIP may not work….
You might need a higher end encoder like this:

How are you importing the footage?
If you are going direct from P2 to the edit
system that could be a problem.
Try copying the P2 card to the HD first
    and then import.

  • Matt – Dude,

I had pointed you to the Apple 5.1.2 upgrade…..
If you installed correctly and are not
seeing the new improved P2 import than
I guess the Academic version is “holding you back”.
Get in the game and buy a real copy of Final Cut Studio –
especially if you are making videos for sale.
