Try clicking the little arrow beside the card icon.

I would not recommend transfer direct from the cards to FCP.
I have never seen the glitches you mention….up to about
400 card downloads…I have copied files from P2 to
Powerbook in moving cars, boats & planes….
I have used AC/DC power, copied to FAT32, MAC formatted,
DVD-R, Flash memory cards etc….
If I do run into these glitches I will be sure
to let you know. -
MPEG 2 you mean for DVD?
I would export the entire timeline first
as a self-contained .mov
then use compressor to create the m2v file…..
If your are trying to create a Transport Stream you
must first encode to .m2v and then mux that along
with your audio file using a program like MPEG Streamclip. -
Just try copying the P2 cards into a new folder.
When you open P2 import in FCP you click on that new folder
and that will import into FCP.
And remember to power the card down after ejecting it.
It is the little icon in the upper right
next to your display and sound icons….
This was never fully documented and seems to
ne the cause of many P2 import problems. -
Sounds like it reverted to the demo version….
Check the serial/registration….
Might need to re-install… -
Same here, no problems with regular macs….have no intel mac experience…..
I know many HVX users who are trying to use PC laptops to off-load P2
cards and have experienced trouble….. -

“Where do you read this on DVXuser? There’s a lot of folks making suggestions over there. Making a disk image of a P2 card is definitely not one of the things I’d recommend. Standard finder copying of the cards contents via dragging and dropping the whole thing is the method I’ve used with 100% success so far.”

I hate to burst your bubble but Lacie drives are the worst!
I started out with some Lacies and lost mucho work from
things crapping out on the drives.
Return it ASAP and get some G-raids….
And I would back-up P2 cards to a DVD-R as well…..
I never trust one-copy on a hard drive….
