Why make a disc image???
I read that and it seems to like it could
lead to the path you just described….
Copying the files to another folder is
what we do and have had zero problems….
Of course we maintain all computers & HD’s
to prevent such problems…..
After we off-load the P2 cards we
quickly check clips using P2 log…..
Yes we could load up FCP but that takes
longer and I cannot see clips full-screen.
If the clips are good we start shooting again
and Back-up the P2 contents we just duplicated
to an external drive….so we leave the shoot
with two P2 copies…and at the office we
Back-up every P2 card to a DVD-R….. -

I also use the HVX and love the P2 workflow….
Had to rent a 1200 deck too digitize some
VariCam footage…
Now I was wincing having to shuttle back
and forth and digitize again…
I sure wish they would have shot with P2!!
BTW – The footage we shot with the HVX
looked way better…. -

Or you can just load the DV files into the MAC
and use QT to convert…
Just did this for a show…
We converted the DV to DVCPRO 50 as we
had interviews and some B-roll in DVCPRO 50…
Everything looked so much better than editing in DV…. -

How much are those edje units?

Try using the Frame Rate Converter….
There is a tutorial on it somewhere…
try a search…
I don’t use it much but I remember
I had to duplicate the clip and drag into
another bin and then use the FRC on the duplicate clip.

We are still trying to find an HD-DVD burner so we can actually produce HD discs for a 5 screen plasma show.
We are experimenting with the JVC HD DVD player with mixed results. For now we are playing SD DVD’s.
We are going to try WMV HD playing from a buffalo player…not the greatest but it’s
a little sharper than SD DVD. We are shooting and editing in 720 24p. -
