  • FCP won’t output MPEG 2

    Hi……

When I try to export as a quicktime movie to mpeg2 FCP keeps telling me I need to render my timeline before it can encode anything for me, but my timeline is already rendered. I don’t want to have to keep outputting a straight export and then converting in quicktime so what can I do? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    MM.

This is not the current version of FCP, is it? What version is it?

    All the best,

    Tom

MPEG 2 you mean for DVD?
I would export the entire timeline first
    as a self-contained .mov
then use compressor to create the m2v file…..
If your are trying to create a Transport Stream you
must first encode to .m2v and then mux that along
with your audio file using a program like MPEG Streamclip.

I’m curious. If this was an HD sequence, would you have to downconvert it to an uncompressed 525 file which you then would send to Compressor, or is there any way you could get Compressor to produce an HD mpeg-2 program stream that you could then mux into an HD transport stream using MPEG Streamclip or similar?

    Thanks

    Fred
