Sorry, the Clip Lists/Storyboards only work with XDCAM Optical Disc. You can make destructive subclips from .mp4s (i.e. entirely new clips based on marked regions) but not EDLs..

Go to the folder, select all and look at the bottom of the thumbnail/details area. It will always show how many clips are currently selected so when you do a CTRL+A you’ll see the total # of files. See bottom of image below..

No, it’s the same for both versions on either OS. It’s really the best way to QC a copy as you will see actual thumbnails and video instead of just a list of files. If you want to see the copy at the filesystem level go to [Folder name]/BPAV/CLPR. Each folder inside CLPR represents a clip (the folders inside CLPR contain the .mp4-wrapped video file and related sidecar files)

In one of the Explorer windows on the left, navigate to the folder containing the archive/copy. Once Browser sees the folder it should place an EX overlay on it (identifying it as a folder with EX clips) and display the contents of the archive just as it would from an SxS card.

The prefs file has to be there if the application was used at all. Make sure you’re in the correct library (User library, not the System library). If you’re in Lion the User Library is hidden by default; hold option + GO menu to reveal it temporarily. System files do not show up in Finder or Spotlight searches.

It does sound like a corruption issue. IMX is supported and should be fine. On your end make sure you are using V 2.13 of Transfer (updates are at https://www.sony.com/xdcam-downloads under ‘legacy applications’). Try clearing the cache from the preferences menu and trashing the prefs file at user/library/preferences/com.sony.bprl.xdcamtransfer.plist.

Green video usually means the decoder (part of FCP) is not working or you are trying to import an unsupported file. If this has worked before the issue is likely in these few files you’re working on now. Make sure they are transcoding to XDCAM IMX 50 and that the files play and otherwise function correctly on their end. They can use XDCAM Browser or, if they are on a Mac, the same version of XDCAM Transfer to QC them. The ‘acid test’ with any XDCAM file is to successfully copy it to a disc and play it back– if they have the capability to do this it would help to alleviate any concerns about their transcoding app creating files with anomalies..

Option 1 (only rewrapping the .mp4s):

XDCAM Transfer v 2.13

Copy the .mp4s to a new folder, add that folder as a Source, Click the IMPORT button to rewrap to mov. If launched from within FCP (File–>Import–>Sony XDCAM) the files will go right to the currently open project.

Option 2 (rebuild BPAV folder and related Metadata):

Create a folder on your system then navigate to that folder in one of Browser’s Explorer windows. Select File–>Import and import the .mp4s. This will create a new BPAV folder (camera archive). Browser also has rewrap/FCP import functionality so once you’ve fixed the folder you can select the clip, right click on it and select ‘Import into FCP.’ This will do the same kind of rewrap as Log and Transfer or XDCAM Transfer.

Log and Transfer and XDCAM Transfer only generate the .mov files. To clone/copy the raw files on the card in their original data structure you need to use Browser..
