[Walter Biscardi] “Did you run any output tests?”
Will obviously have to do a couple of Playback Offset tests to make sure we’re frame accurate on the edit. Coming out of Kona 2 (K-Box) via SDI and monitoring via component to PVM-20L5/1. Do you have a starting point?
Thanks for the speedy reply Walter!

Chris,
What new software or drivers have you recently installed?
My only install was the application DV Keyboard (Beta for Tiger) from Bella-USA to run their FCP Professional Series keyboard. Have sent them an email on their Beta feedback address… haven’t heard back from them yet.

[Post Office Video] “Over the past week a file called gmon.out has been appearing on my system drive. It is 20.4 megs and has no additional information.”
Just noticed this on the root of my X.4.2 system hard drive today as well. Why is this showing up all of a sudden?
I trashed it, emptied the trash, rebooted and it was created again. What’s creating this file all of a sudden?

Herb,
Thanks for understanding my original post and taking the time to reply.
You’re right, this is a bug… bad error handling… the clips are in the bin as you capture and then the bin loses them although they are still on the drives.
For those who don’t understand the problem… follow the instructions on page 280 (FCP 5) Manual Volume I under “Make New Clip”… see how it works for you.
… nuff said.

Wasn’t my choice… TOD camera originals were given to me to deal with.
The whole point is that the digitized clips should not have disappeared from the bin… bad error handling subroutines in the programming code.

[Jason McCaffrey] “if I could blow up the license plate so I could really see the corners of it.”
You can open Universal Access in System Prefs and turn on Zoom, then in FCP select the Viewer and use “Apple =” to zoom in on the portion you want to work on.

[Mike Weber] “It’d be great if M100 could seek out & relink to them automatically (or even manually).”
Doesn’t it work if you go into Media Locations, delete the old disk path and add a new disk path to the replacement disk? I seem to remember this working quite well. Of course things may have changed in HD… don’t have that.

[michael del rossi] “Is that a 20 min seq? What res and fps are the files at?
can;t you break it up?”Yes, just over 21 minutes… HD 1920 x 1080 at 29.97 fps.
I had already figured out a workaround but just wanted to know if there actually was a limit. No one seems to know or at least no one will own up to the limit.
See my profile for equipment etc.

July 12, 2005 at 6:33 pm in reply to: 8 Port Sata Controller Slot Configurations for G5 with Kona 2According to install instructions, the Tempo card will not work in Slot 4…
so here’s my slot config that is working very well.
Slot 1 – ATI X800 XT
Slot 2 – empty
Slot 3 – Tempo – X8
Slot 4 – AJA Kona 2Don’t have an ATTO card installed yet. Was going to try it out in Slot 2 but haven’t had time to reconfigure things.

July 9, 2005 at 10:31 pm in reply to: RE-ASK — KONA 2 WON’T LET MY G5 GO TO SLEEP![Jim Blokland] “It’s getting to the point where I forget exactly what is supposed to happen with true ‘deep sleep’. Maybe I need to get some…”
Sorry for late response Jim, but my system never went back to the “breathing sleep” either. The “breathing sleep” sleep stopped as soon as I changed to the X800. For what it’s worth, my system does sleep and the fan you hear running is on the X800. This G5 runs 24/7 and it’s been behaving real well.
