gmon.out
Posted by Chris Paul on August 9, 2005 at 3:16 pmOver the past week a file called gmon.out has been appearing on my system drive. It is 20.4 megs and has no additional information. I suspect it may be related to the activity monitor utility. I searched the web and fopund that it is some sort of table used in UNIX programming but it was way over my head. has anyone else seen this?

Just noticed this on the root of my X.4.2 system hard drive today as well. Why is this showing up all of a sudden?
I trashed it, emptied the trash, rebooted and it was created again. What’s creating this file all of a sudden?

What new software or drivers have you recently installed?
My only install was the application DV Keyboard (Beta for Tiger) from Bella-USA to run their FCP Professional Series keyboard. Have sent them an email on their Beta feedback address… haven’t heard back from them yet.

August 11, 2005 at 6:01 pmI am running the Beta for DV keyboard as well. The previous beta had a serious memory leak- haven’t seen it for certain in the previous version but I am seeing memory become inactive more than usual. The gomon.out file seems more related to the Activity Monitor utility at this point as it updates whenever I use it.

Am having the same problem… everything comes to a halt and I have to hard boot.
Bella say that their Beta driver for Tiger could not be causing the gmon.out file, but here we are – two installs with the same symptoms. I also have the same setup on another drive running with the old driver under OSX.3.9 and no gmon.out file is showing up.
Go figure…
