Does it look this way in your video monitor? Don’t trust the Canvas for rendered graphics. It will never show you the output quality.

Go to your Sequence>Render Menus and Check all the qualities that you want to be rendered. Otherwise, nothing will happen. I suggest checking the Red Render bar, Light Green Preview bar and Dark Green Full bars.

If I am understanding you correctly, you don’t have to recapture. Just make a new offline sequence for DV using the media manager and then re-link to the original files.

Install MS Explorer and then see if your Title 3D problem goes away. Explorer installs the Arial Black font Title 3D needs to run.

About your other issues, you’ll have to be specific. Probably pilot error ’cause my FCP 5 runs damn good.

Eject (unmount) the drive before you power down and pull the cable.

Hmmm….interesting about PCI cards.

So although your preview is disabled, you should still be able to see picture on the LCD as it captures, right? Also, I assume that you should hook up the speakers out of the HDV camcorder so you can also hear what you’re doing, just like a normal FCP setup.
