Yes, I’m thinking of the Multibridge Extreme.
I’ve been adviced to run the MB E with a Decklink HD card out of the mac as a workaround for not having PCIe in my current system, but most likely in my next.
From what I see from posts here, windows users are having serious issues with the MB extreme, I just wondered about mac/FCP users experience.
Usually people come here with their woes, I’d love to hear some success before spending the $$$ -;)

If it’s an iMac, a SATA RAID is not an option, but you’ll be able to add as many FW disks as you can possibly eat. (I’ve had 10 at the worst. Not adviceable… -;)

OMF’s are read fine by Cubase & Nuendo, too + I guess Logic and Digital Performer..
Best way to go, though.

FCP isn’t really good for audio-mixes.
Easy way would be to ask the sound dude/girl that did your mixing for these 2 sets of tracks directly out of his/her/their sound suite. Would be pretty easy. Then you should do the “Copy of sequence – delete original audio – re-import” thing mentioned in the end.
If, on the other hand – you have done the mixing in FCP only, you’ll have to mute relevant tracks and create two mixdowns through “export audio”.
Haven’t tried this route myself, but if you remember to “nest sequence-mixdown audio” before you export it sorta should work.
Then make a copy of your sequence, take away your original audio from the copy and re-import the two stereo-pairs.
Finally you’ll have to route the different tracks to the appropriate tracks on the tape given that you have the right deck/soundcard solution.I’ve never done mor than two tracks in DV-CAM.

First off machines: Pretty damned very bad.
(Anyone remember B&W G3, G4 or G5?)It’s promising, though that the new iMac has a deliverydate “today”. The machines are actueally in production. Hooray!
I have twice bought the “first of a new generation” and none of them were up to speed before a considerable time due to delivery and SW/HW issues. I have loved them both, though.
But Apple seem to have learned from the iPod launchings. Delivery dates have been set and met. So one can hope.

Nope, not really. Possibly in Rosetta with some hacking, but you won’t really get the speed gains that way.
That said: All pro apps should be universal binaries by March…
