[Andrew B.] “HVX can not shoot pregressive HD to DV tape? As i heard it can nicely store 720p directly to tape. If so, it is quite enough for us to start with HD.”

I don’t think the HVX can record anything but DV to tape. You’ll need p2 cards or some HD solution to record HD.

Are you working in Final Cut?

I think it doesn’t support 50p. (I was told, and hate it too).

From the apple pages this comes up:

    HD at 1080i 50/60, 1080p 23.98/24, and 720p 23.98/30/60

    No 50p…

I used to set up systems with one partition for each, without problems, but Apple people I spoce with recomended keeping both system on the same partition.

What I did worked fine for me…

    Hi

I’m about to buy a Multibridge Extreme among other things for it’s minitoring features.

Having seen your review of BM’s HD link is one thing that pushes me in that direction.
How’s that comparable to the ecinemasys box, giving you’ve tried them both.

And does both (or one) come with better tools for setting up the monitor?

I think this will only be available as an option for those who run a slightly upgraded version of Amiga OS. The rest of us are left in the dark!

  • Could be that you’re capturing with “capture now” and you have set you’re capture limit to “none”. This was a common problem in FCP 4, because the system took up all available space on a disk to make sure you can capture “forever”.

In the “system settings” in the FCP menu, set “Capture now” limit to… 15 minutes.

I’d say you’re better off doing clean installs.

It is sorta conceivable to think that you could upgrade your Panther disk with the
new Tiger DVD’s, and it might be worth a try. If you go this route:

    1. Remove alle none-apple extensions (controll panes etc)
    2. Do an Archive and install.

Then start from your DVD with the C button pushed

The clean “Upgrade” option is notorious for giving loads of problems and I had a
far too long time with a partly nonfunctional system going this route.

The hours saved was quickly snatched back by Tiger, so to speak.

You’ll have to brace yourself for some reinstalls if you’re choosing this route and have
systemspecific authorizing for some of your software (Like the NI things)

Also there are quite a few programs that needs updates to function properly under Tiger.

That said. Tiger is a good pal of mine by 10.4.3.
    Spotlight is pretty annoying though.
