OK. I’ll give myself a go at this -;)
Because of XP (32 bits) dependency on BIOS to boot, and the new Macs reliance on EFI to boot, it won’t work without a bootloader-hack.
The second problem (I guess, but haven’t seen any mentioning of) is the HFS+/NTFS problem of a dualboot.
Vista should be OK though… -;)
And Win 64 already, when we see a 64 bits MacIntel system.Gunleik

1. Boot from system DVD (C down during boot)
2. From the utilities menu, choose Disk Manager
3. Format and partition your disk(s) as you like.
4. Back to installation prog (comes back when you close the Disk M)
5. Install
6. Upgrade system (with combo update)
7. Install soft
8. Upgrade soft
9. Repair permissions and run Disc Warrior if you have it

My experince is that having at least two partitions have sometimes saved half my work when a drive has gone bad.
But I don’t do it anymore…

The new Intel Towers are supposed to be out within the year. The 1st gen MacTels are all 32 bit, so it will be interesting to see what they do on the Pro towers… What’s gonna smoke the Quad?
You won’t ever be able to run _Intel only_ based software on a G5, AFAIK Rosetta is a one way effort (G5 to Intel.
However Apple is propagating a Universal Code Base for both the PPC and Intel machines.
Best bet right now is to take a look at Apples own pages:

eh… and one more thing.
To me the reasoning is sorta like this:
1. Does the phootage look good?
2. What is the compression rate?
3. Does the phootage look good?
4. Is it a sturdy little cam? (The 150/170 are notorious for their ability to allow physical abuse and still work well…)
5. Does the phootage look good?I know that on tech-sheets a recent Sony Cybershot grossly outperforms the Nikon D-100.
I also know pretty well which camera I’d prefer to use.Gunleik

you sort of state stuff without giving your sources. If it gives 720p “true” resolution, I’d be _VERY_ happy. -;)
If it could shoot 720p 50 in PAL-land and there would be a FCP update to allow this format to be edited in some reasonable way, I’d love it.
So where did you hear this?
I wouldn’t mind 1080p 50 either as some native format, but I sorta don not expect this today from a camera which ha a 1/3″ CCD and costs a lot less than just a basic “HD-lens” for the VariCam.
Maybe one day, but I cannot see it just soon.

(BTW: I sorta agree that it’s not well thought through _not_ to release the data, simply because it generates fuzz around a product that otherwise seems very well done and priced. I don’t mind, though.)Gunleik

No experience whatsover with this gear, but I remember to have read several posts mentioning that the JVC dialect of HDV works less than desireable with FCP (if at all).
Do a quick search on google and older posts.
A solution can be to capture through a capture card to f. ex. DVCPRO HD.It’s kinda sad as the JVC seems like a beatifull camera from what I’ve seen.
Could be wrong.
