well sure ya gotta submit a bid. Freind or no friend, he knows what ya do for a livin’ and this is part of making one. A little competition amongst friends is always a good thing.
I handed a freelance buddy of mine six figures a year worth of bidness a couple of years ago. Now we compete on a regualar basis. I see it as fun and healthy. Makes us both have to be worth what we charge… which is two very different rates.

3-5k is a fair number for these spots.
I usually don’t shoot the car spots I edit but I have seen no reason to cut breaks as little as I do em so I just charge my hourly rate. Assuming you need a minimum of a grand a day for your time and overhead, thats how I started at 3k. A day of shooting, a day of editing and a day for graphics and animation.
That said, don’t let me make your day rate $1k. Figure up what you need based on your overhead and expertise. -
you can also use time warp and bring it to a freeze gradually.
Just apply time warp, open effect controls, bring up your ramp display, add a keyframe and drag yer ramp down to 0. You can alt drag that keyframe left and right to have it freeze at the perfect frame. -

imo, they are already doing it the easiest way by outputting to tape and just handing that to ya.
Taking the time to make, export and import files will take longer than just spittin ou to tape. -
if you apply your glow then alt-drag yor pip, you’ll be ok.

Only you can answer this question. While you will always get paid less than you are worth, only you know how much you need to make ends meet. I cant make em meet for 45k anymore so I simply have to pass on every gig under that magical number that’ll pay all my bills. This is a math thing more than a pride thing. Never take the first offer though. It aint as if they ever pay what is first requested.
