Thanks for the info Graham. I’m going to give it a try. I was having a hell of a time rendering out a 1280×720 59.94 comp. It would get about 1 minute in and give me a image buffer error. I ended up having to take the project into the G5 room and it rendered out fine. I’m actually taking your advice and re-rendering it out with your specs. I’ll let you know what happens.

    3Ghz Quad Intel Mac Pro
    4Gb of Ram
    After Effects 7
    Final Cut Pro 5.1.2

  • My experience so far isn’t a very good one. I keep getting Image Buffer errors. I used the secret menu to purge every 5 frames but it doesn’t seem to work. Hopefully Adobe comes out with an update soon. I have a Mac Pro dual 3Ghz with 4Gb of ram. the same project works great on my G5 with 3GB of ram.

Right after I installed 5.1.2 I exported an Audio OMF and the sound designer said that the omf file did not have any information in it. I tried it 3 or 4 times and the same problem. I trashed my prefs and tried it and Voila! it worked! Maybe you should try trashing your prefs.

I’m using either the Kona or the IO, but not at the same time.

What I do is hook an Ethernet cable from my laptop to my G5 and turn on Share Internet. This is how I’m able to update my G5 without wireless internet installed on it. My laptop has wireless internet and shares the internet with my G5. Don’t know if this helps.

I’m going out right now to get a battery and see if that’s the problem. Thanks for all the advice.

I’ve had this issue coming out of Final Cut Pro when I have RGB selected instead of YPbPr so maybe there is a setting inside of your deck that switches from these settings.
