Once again you can’t download the package and update from the package. You have to update through friggin’ Software Update. That means every machine has to connect to the Internet and download and update from the net. Could this be more of a pain. How incredibly, stupidly, inconsiderate. Once again we have to move machines, connect to the net, do them in batches so we don’t choke the pipe, just because we can’t download the package, populate the machines and install them from there.

When will Apple get a clue.

    All the best,

    Tom

I dunno, does this not do what you need?

I’m not at my Mac and I haven’t tried that yet, so it may not be what you need. But it looks like it might be.

[Shane Ross] “Full XDCAM support, MPEG IMX support.”

What does this mean? Does it makes any difference for XDCAM SD or is it only for XDCAM HD (the 35mb VBR format I guess).

I whish Apple spoke a bit more in detail of the updates…

oh, forget about it… I opened software updates and clicked on more information and got a detailed PDF. Quite an update for a x.x.1 increment.

Try the functions in the Software Update apps ‘Update’ menu:
    Download Only
Install (default when clicking the button in the Software Update window)
    Install and keep package

1st and 3rd option put the packages to /Library/Packages/

That’s what I usually do for most applications. In FCP you download the package, run the installer, and it says you can’t update from this package, you have to use Software Update. FCP’s been doing this for a while, and it sucks.

    All the best,
