  • You can export .WAV directly out of FCP without using compressor. It is one of the options when you Export to Qiucktime. I don’t have the program in front of me right now so I can’t guide you to it, but the option is there. I have used it.

    Quick question or 2.
Why would you not reccommend Squeeze on a Mac?
What is the best way to get 720p HD BlackMagic 8 bit video from FCP into Squeeze?

I just came accross another instance where this becomes a serious workflow problem. We had a drive failure so had to move the project and all the media to another drive and back again. When re-connecting the clips, they all came in as subclips. Deleting the subclips and just importing the original clips, broke the timecode references to the sequence. Essentally the editor had to start all over. He hadn’t gotten very far into the project, but he would have waisted a lot of time if it had happened further along.

I agree wholeheartedly with these comments. Aja tech. support is very good. I truly hope that Bob Z’s “consultant” scenario does not ever come about.

Link Electronics makes a decoder PCD-85… A little pricey but it works.

Why not shoot 1080i and keep the format through the workflow? Ever notice any artifacts in the conversion?

Yes, this is an issue with decklink HD. I have seen it on both our Kona2 cards and our Decklink. Happens with both Panasonic 1200a and the 150. I think it is a 720P 8 and 10 bit problem. Dosen’t seem to come up in HDV or 1080i. It dosen’t seem like a critical issue to ANY of the manufacturers as the quick fix is to delete the clip from the bin and re-import it. Does slow up the workflow though.

I don’t know for sure that the fraudulent charges I found on my credit card were as a result of purchasing the software off their website, but I had to cancel the card after $400.00 of bogus charges showed up on the same day that the flip4mac was purchased. That was the only purchase for the 2 weeks prior.
