    One of the plugins you’re using in the comp is not registered. It’s an anti-piracy measure. You should just need to re-register the plug-in and restart AE and you should be good to go.

    If you’re using a shape layer, expand the rectangle path properties, and you’ll see a size property. Uncheck the infinity loop symbol and you can set the X and Y sizes as you wish and the rounded corners will remain ‘correct’.

    If you are doing this with a mask, check out the middle part of my tutorial, which shows you how to use Free Transform Points to change the corners:

    Try the Posterize filter on top of your gradient ramp. You’ll have to play with it a little, but it should get you what you’re after.

    I’d suggest a gradient wipe, using a different solid for the texture for the gradient wipe. What do you need to do after creating a solid is to add the fractal noise effect and then add a gradient ramp effect. You can set the gradient ramp’s transfer mode so that you see the noise from the fractal noise but it still retains a circular bright area. This will give you the circular expansion but with certain points appearing before others.

    You can parent one map to another. Having done this myself, I’m going to recommend that you parent the large map to the small map and animate the small map for the scaling. If you do it the other way round you end up dealing with almost sub-pixel measurements and it’s really difficult to make fine adjustments.

    I think the Kaleida settings will be a large size (so you only get one element) and the mirroring set to wheel. Keyframing the rotation will get you the spinning.

    For the shapes, it’s probably just a case of messing with settings of Fractal Noise, so that the width is much longer than the height and the noise type set to block.

    Hi Katie,

    You can separate the dimensions with expressions. ALT click on the stopwatch for the Start of the gradient and then use:

    X = value[0];
    Y = value[1];
    [X,Y]

    You can then replace value[0] with whatever you want, including pickwhipping to the shape keyframe and leave Y as its original value.

    When you rendered originally, was the quality the same as now? And are you using the GPU or just software rendering?

    If you make a new solid, at least the width of the comp and then move it so that its right edge is in the middle point of your vector object. And then parent this to the vector object, so that when you animate it across the screen, your solid will stick to it.

    Make sure the new solid is below the vector object, but above one of the video layers. Then set the video’s track matte to Alpha Matte. The solid’s visibility will turn off and the video will only appear where the solid is.
