    I think if you google search for “proximty expression” you’ll see quite a few variations on pulling objects towards a point. You might need to go further and have then retain that position, or you could probably use mutiple hidden points and leave them in place.

  • There’s also the Extract effect in Keying, which will allow you to cut out the black elements, but to be honest – all the above suggestions work too!

    Can you try an expression on the scale value, to determine the how large the current image is, something like:

    Width = thisLayer.width;
    MaxSize = 1920;
    myScaleMultiplier = 1920/Width;
    myScale = myScaleMultiplier*100;
    [myScale,myScale]

    Yeah, it’s an old school term for when the animator would “travel” or move a matte layer across the frame – usually to match a camera move by hand.

    By the sounds of it, I’m not sure this is what you’re after though. You have a comp of fractal noise and want the whole comp to fly along a path. In which case, I’d draw my path, then select it and then copy the path and paste it into the position property of the comp. This will give you two main keyframes and the comp will move around the path.

    Hi Alex,

    I think Optics Compensation would help for the edge stretching and using the Extrude features on a 3D layer (which become avaiable when you select the Cinema4D renderer) can get you the rotating 3D eye.

    So you’re trying to play video directly on your TV from an mp4 recreated in After Effects?

    Export to Adobe Media Encoder and use the h.264 option:

    It might be easiest to recreate what you’re after using shape layers, but failing that trying search for “hud” (heads up display) on stock footage websites.

    I think you’ve got the right approach, you’ll be able to animate the fence’s motion, using masks to make holes where you need them to correspond to the action.

    Only thing I’m not sure of is when you describe it as a flip book effect. Are you wanting this to appear drawn and have someone flicking through the images? If so, take a look at Andrew Kramer’s tutorial: https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/flip-book_motion/

  • 24 instances! Well, yes, I can sort of imagine VideoCopilot didn’t QA for that. All on one layer suggests to me that you might not be using Saber the way it was intended.

    I am sorry for you that it corrupted your project, there’s almost nothing more disheartening than that. I’ve become a bit of an evangelicalist for cloud backups. I use Google Drive to backup my project folders and just lay week screwed up by overwriting source footage. Fortunately because I had it backed up, I was able to retrieve the file.

    When/If you recreate your project, post a screenshot here and we can see if there is any way to cut down the number Sabers.

  • Next to the Zoom value, there is a dropdown for quality. In your screen recording, you have this set to Quarter, so AE to giving you a faster result in preview. Have you tried rendering it out yet?
